About Bertram Primary School
Some pictures and some opinions about this case of innovation :)
What were her motivations for using mobile technologies in her school? What type of support did she get from her school? Could these be relevant to your context?
She was using her own IPad in class to help show things on the smart board, and she tried to use it in another way in smaller intervention groups. Sara Hill got the support in the implementing of iPads into different aspects of the school. This kind of intervention program, of course, would be relevant to my context. Actually, we have tablets and their applications, but I´m not sure about what kind of apps they have.
How did she convince the teachers in her school to use mobile technologies in their own classrooms? What was her biggest challenge in getting the teachers to use the mobile technologies? Would her solution work in your context?
She convinced the teacher with their example of using mobile learning to teach. Her intervention program for literacy and numeracy, and also with students with autism was successful. Her biggest challenge in the teachers to use the mobile technologies is to have developed confidence in teachers to implement them in their classrooms. Her solution, of course, can work in my context and in all contexts; it is about innovative, creative and an enthusiastic attitude in the implementing of new ICT resources and tools in the school.
How were the teachers supported in using the mobile technologies in their classrooms? Were there any pieces of evidence from the video that when a teacher had been supported, he/she was more likely to use mobile technologies to engage students in their learning?
Sarah Hill gave the support showing the way she works with IPad, also with her program. The intervention programs were planned thinking on specialist teachers could use them to increase the skills of their students. The teachers, of course, were more likely to use mobile technologies, and the evidence is the way Sian Bakewell talks explaining Sarah´s support and the development of her confidence using iPad. Also, Lisa and Tammy explaining the benefit of the resource. Finally, in Math Intervention we can see the teacher enjoying the learning with iPads, where Sarah explain how iPad offers a different learning style. We can see that students are engaged and eager to learn, and ready to do anything.
