About Bertram Primary School

Some pictures and some opinions about this case of innovation :)  What were her motivations for using mobile technologies in her school? What type of support did she get from her school? Could these be relevant to your context? She was using her own IPad in class to help show things on the smart board, and she tried to use it in another way in smaller intervention groups. Sara Hill got the support in the implementing of iPads into different aspects of the school. This kind of intervention program, of course, would be relevant to my context. Actually, we have tablets and their applications, but I´m not sure about what kind of apps they have. How did she convince the teachers in her school to use mobile technologies in their own classrooms? What was her biggest challenge in getting the teachers to use the mobile technologies? Would her solution work in your context? She convinced the teacher with their example of using mobile learning to teach. Her intervention p...

I remember the last words of a proffesor in a video I saw in Coursera, and it says "l et's face these obstacles with creativity and innovation".  Actually, I found a proposal of a classmate that I liked so much.  I asked for permission to share it here.  Read it, please . :) Title – Collaborate locally to overcome gaps in technology and infrastructure ·          Context – local public school with high level ICT teaching skills but low availability of technology equipment and infrastructure such as maintenance and dedicated digital spaces. ·          The Challenge – Technology and infrastructure   The Suggestion ICT tool or Resource §   Our local libraries have class sized sets of technology equipment and the infrastructure to support their use. §   Technology equipment includes banks of 3D printers, educational robotics ( including programmable toys such as...

Sharing

Imagen
This section of the main document of this course, called "Sharing" allowed me to see the kinds of solutions and propositions teachers and schools would like to share on how to avoid pitfalls or obstacles, and also on how to give equal chances to everybody when teachers and schools want to integrate ICT.  4.3 Sharing  Objective  Discover some suggestions on how to face some of the challenges.  Can you share with other schools how you have overcome some of the challenges you faced when integrating ICT in a Primary School? (7.4)  With respect to the sharing of experiences and successes, the schools we’ve interviewed responded in two different directions. Some have expressed how they do or have done to share with some colleagues and which, while others have understood the question as an invitation to share with us some recommendations and suggestions. Therefore the answers make a little less consensus, but there are still some very interesting aspec...

Challenges and concerns about implementing ICT in my school

I created a map that organizes the important issues before to implementing ICT in my context. Your browser is not able to display frames. Please visit Challenges and concerns of implementing ICT in my school on MindMeister. Challenges and concerns of implementing ICT in my school by tr@slasTIC Pedagogas

Limitations and Concerns in my context- Week 5

Three issues I recognize as important in my context are: Management Time Professional development I think the role of school administration is very important because teachers follow the instruction their authorities give them. If the administration is committed to offering an education that develops the 21st competencies, so all the team will be committed to the implementation of CIT. If the Principal of the school is not sufficiently involved in supporting technological and pedagogical innovations, they become major obstacles.  Time is an aspect really important for everybody nowadays. Teachers will think two times before they use their time to try to develop some good practices with ICT. The effect of a good management influence on this issue.  The lack of trust and innovation are features of a good percentage of teachers, and It can be contagious. There are many topics to study in the school, many competencies to develop in the children, the importance of...

Challenges and Obstacles- Bury

"it hasn´t been an easy journey" Jocelyn Bennter teaches to her 17 students about inappropriate information. She teaches the students every day to question what is on the laptop, question WHAT IS ON THE WEB.It helps them to have the tools to judge it for themselves.  For teaching, she and her team are adapting it to change. Also, they teach students to be independent and find solutions to their problems.  With the inquiry and project based, children are managing to learn how to learn for themselves.  Teachers also should look for innovative lesson plans, tools, applications, websites  for specific courses They work with parents to teach them how to help the school in the project.  Take care of the devices and teach students how to do it.

Week 5- Challenge in integrating ICT- Perceptions

QUESTIONS ABOUT A PROJECT: Using iPads in the classroom 1. How would you describe this innovation from your point of view? 2. What kind of challenges do you think this team of educators has faced while implementing and developing that project? 3. What are the elements of this project that you find inspiring and that you might use to overcome some of your own challenges?  I can describe this innovation as an achievement of an innovative teacher :)  Always I think that all kind of project in education will be successful if the teacher is committed to its outcomes.  This project was developed in Mexico, and it started in August 2013, when the school gave an iPad to a teacher to use in his classroom. The success is due to the effort or endeavor made by the teacher who looked through many websites, read dozens of articles, watched a plethora of videos and used iPad in the classroom. And... what is more laudable is that this teacher creates ...

KEY TIPS

In Coursera I learned that whenever you want to clarify the meaning of some of the basic concepts we are working with during ICT research or digital literacy /content theory, you may download  this Reference Document from this link: https://d396qusza40orc.cloudfront.net/ictinprimary/week5/Activity-5.1.1-BasicConceptsonICT.pdf or visit other useful resources like the TEL Dictionary or Educational Technology Wikipedia. ICT- based learning activities

Imagen
After reading Chapter 3.1 "Opportunities provided by ICT for teaching and learning in primary schools " from UNESCO Book   "ICT in Primary Education. Volumen 1: Exploring the origins, settings, and initiatives"   pp. 39-46, I selected few example of ICT- based learning activities that I find interesting, and make notes on each one. They are two, one in Literacy , and one in Science.  ICT information tools in Literacy are important because are related to the development of Information Literacy Competency. When the students applied research skills they use the internet and CD- ROMs as information tools to search for information and also use critical judgment to determine the information accurate, relevant, and useful. But, I think that this process should be guided by the teacher with right worksheets and other materials. Teachers should give the students the strategies to find accurate and relevant information.  I agree with the results of the searching...

Unesco book ICT in Primary Education, Volume 1: Exploring the origins, settings, and initiatives ACTIVITY- COURSERA :)  After I checked some examples of different ways in which schools from 9 different countries use ICT, I selected two that are of interest to me and I have copied some ideas and methods from each one. These could be relevant to my own schools' plans, or to future policy on the use of ICT in primary schools. The American Institute of Monterrey  They seek not only to develop their students academic potential, but also ensure that their students develop their knowledge and skills in four other areas: wellness (social- emotional developments, universal moral values, health and physical education), Fine Artes (voice, musical instruments, dance, and theatre), Sports (soccer, basketball), and Technology and Multiculturalism, thus assuming that their students receive a well- rounded education attuned to the 21 st century.  Their students use techn...
